Alev: Rat Catchers

I have been lax in my record keeping. I must remember to keep up with this or the Chronicles of the Starborn might be lost. Quite a lot has happened in the past few days, I will try and summarize.

March 28, 998 CE

We discovered this morning the warehouse where the most rare stolen alchemical materials are kept. Neil is quite resourceful with his location spells. We meet up with Lady Arigane and Sir Jeren to discuss and receive a writ allowing us access for Search and Seizure of the property. During my searching I also learned that Sir Jeren received a black bottle of wine that morning from the Midnight Enclave. When I brought this up, he denied any such thing and that he could defend himself easily. He left us to meet with Count Crastic in a private meeting.

Shortly afterward, as we are discussing matters, I receive a sending from Lady Arigane saying Sir Jeren has been murdered and to come quick. We learn from the Council and speaking with Sir Jeren from beyond the veil of death that Count Crastic and three Drow ambushed him in the meeting chamber. Saddened by this news, it increases our furor with wanting to thwart this plot by the Drow. Grand Lord Yomah signs our writ to re-authorize it, and appoints Sir Talos Greykeep to fill the shoes of Sir Jeren. Unfortunately for Sir Talos, those will be very big shoes to fill. I fear the death of Sir Jeren will hinder us in the upcoming battle.

We spend the rest of the day watching the warehouse and observing for any traffic to or from.

March 29, 998 CE

Well, the evening was a waste, we saw no activity around or in the warehouse. Rygorh brings up a good point, we have yet to check the Sewers. So, down we go. While search through the sewers, we discover a newly made shaft leading up to the warehouse. There could be many of these spread out throughout the city, something the council should definitely be aware of. We storm the warehouse, making a very impressive show of skill and easily dispatch the alchemist and subdue the two Drow and two Duergar present. Flagging down a guard patrol to assist, we transport the alchemical components and the prisoners to the Council chambers and turn them over. The council puts the prisoners to the question and quite a lot of good information is gained from them. Not only have we foiled the alchemical bomb plot, but we also learn that the Drow are seeking something in the sewers, most likely the local Tump, and have been unable to find it. They were also planning on poisoning the water system of the city. Lastly, we learned the location of their captain and two lieutenants to be on a ship in the harbor.

With Neil's help, we are able to locate a ship in the harbor that has both mithril and Drow sleep poison on board.

March 30, 998 CE

We inform the Council of our discovery. At our urging, they close off the harbor and we work on scouting the ship. Our plan of attack is to hit it in the morning, with three elite guard patrols as backup. May Aranu guide my hand in this fight.
